Conviction

Guilty Of Being Quality Entertainment--BBC's "Conviction" Is A Gritty Exploration Of Regret, Duty, And Loyalty
I'll be the first one to tell you--I'm sophisticated and classy. You know why? I watch BBCAmerica, and the Brits--they are the leaders of urbane and upscale entertainment. If you need any convincing, just watch an episode of "Footballer's Wives," "Mile High," or "Bad Girls." Of course, I'm kidding. These shows are brassy, bawdy, and loaded with bad behavior! But, you know what, they are also filled with life. They embrace their nastiness wholeheartedly and make no apologies for being pure popcorn entertainment. With language and nudity not permitted by American networks, it seems as if the genre of nighttime soaps has been revitalized by Britain. But that's not all BBCAmerica has to offer, they are just the shows that helped the network grow in popularity. Some other intriguing entries that recently aired in the US are on their way to DVD--there is a new hip take on "Robin Hood," the supernatural "Hex," and the complex crime story "Conviction." So beware! The British are...

Great British Crime and punishment movie
The movie is a Who don' it? to the very end. I have watched it many times over.

Beware the first episode BUT don't give up
This is quite funny really. I had had this series ordered on NETFLIX for over 3 months and it said LONG WAIT I got tired of waiting so I bought this copy. I watched the first episode and HATED IT thought it was CRAP very badly constructed disjointed just awful' despite the graphic OMG twist So I threw it aside and quit.... HOWEVER bored a few days later because U had nothing to watch I tried episode two (this is a 6 part series) and it was MUCH better. There seemed to be a more coherent thought process and the story began to become interesting. By the end I had really quite enjoyed it. SO here's the funny part when I went to put it on my DVD shelf I ALREADY owned it I kept thinking I had seen it before OH well LOL. Not the best I have ever seen but quite entertaining.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Vol. 1 - Gathering of Fates

Wonderful introduction to the world of anime
Outside of watching Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon with my son I really haven't watched any anime for myself. However, when I discovered that the manga of Tsubasa that I had just started reading was also an anime I was determined to check it out. After getting past the initial sticker shock for anime in general I picked up this first volume. I wasn't at all disappointed, except perhaps by the fact that it ended.

The anime has presented an entirely different way of viewing these characters. Right from the opening credits I've loved everything about the anime. The music is great and everything is so colorful, a huge departure from the black and white panels of the manga (not that I don't enjoy the manga, I do, this is just so different!) Fai in particular has such a cute personality and I love the interactions between him, Kurogane and Mokono. It seems a wonderful balance between humor and drama and I'm really looking forward to watching more of this series!

Great because it doesn't try to be
First of all, I love everything CLAMP has ever made, so there was no way I was going to miss this release. But I don't think I'm biased when I say that this is a good show for anyone to watch. Fans of the original manga might be disappointed by animation, which is about average and could have been better, but they'll still enjoy the creativity and beauty of the different worlds that Syaoran and his companions travel to. The characters are what really make Tsubasa worthwhile, and the English dub does an excellent job of bringing out their often hilarious personalities. My favorites are the voices of Tomoyo and Fay, who is voiced by fan-favorite Vic Mignogna (Edward in Fullmetal Alchemist).

The only downside to Tsubasa is that it's plot starts out rather predictable, but that gets better later on in this season. The simplicity of this series is actually what makes it appealing. The innocent love between the two leads is a bit corny, but at the same time oddly heartwarming. I...

Better than the Original!
This first DVD features the first whopping five episodes of the series (take that Region 2!) which introduces us to all the main characters and takes them on their first adventure to the world of Hanshin.

Having watched the series during it's original run on Japanese TV and being sorely disappointed with several of the voice actors (I'm looking at you Sakura, Fai and Kurogane!) I was looking forward to hearing the English actors and what they would do with their roles and man, not only was I pleasantly surprised... I was ECSTATIC!!! The English voice actors not only manage to match the characters but they also achieve something the Japanese actors couldn't: giving their characters personalities!

The Japanese Sakura has always been, for me, an example of one of the most boring portrayals of an anime character. The actress always came across as rather weak and wispy and this even includes the scenes before Sakura lost her features where she was supposed to be full...

Dark Corners

Hell Awaits...
I enjoy movies that I can't figure out immediately. I also like movies that are a bit odd, off-kilter so to speak. You know, films like MEMENTO, HEADSPACE, JACOB'S LADDER, CARNIVAL OF SOULS, etc. Well, DARK CORNERS fits right in with these other classics of bleakess and dread! Thora Birch (American Beauty, Ghost World, The Hole) plays the dual role of Susan- in the sunny, happy world of light, and Karen- in the darkworld of nightmare. I was perplexed by what connection there could possibly be between these two women. I was pleasantly stunned by the answers at the end! The last movie to make my jaw drop (in a good way) was HIGH TENSION. DARK CORNERS had that same twisty, grabber of a finalé for me. So, if you are a fan of the macabre, weird, or creepy, then this one will be a treat...

Better than average horror cheap flick with GREAT nightmares
I sometimes have really vivid nightmares that are similar to the somber world the protagonist finds herself in when she sleeps. Those sequences come closer to the look and feel of the sort of nightmare where everything seems sort of off key and grotesque than anything I've seen except maybe parts of Jacob's Ladder. If your significant other tends towards dreams of peaceful meadows with happy bunnies (OK, I admit I'm being sarcastic), but never has nightmares, and just doesn't understand why you sometimes wake up shaking and on the edge of tears from a harmless little dream, show him this.

I noticed the director is British. I wonder if a little of that is flavored by C.S. Lewis's Great Divorce, such as the bus trip with one end in Hell.

Strong Women in Peril - Again
Thanks to Thora this is much better than average. A weird dual world theme is explored in this clever but not great scare film. The script and direction are just okay. Nice look too. Not too graphic, more of a suspenseful mind game. A good example of the lead raising the whole production. Also see the obscure "Left in Darkness" for another good but not great film with a strong female part.

Cutthroat Island

Swashbuckling fun at its best!
Pure joy for fans of old fashioned sea adventure and entertaining, if stereotypical, peg-legged, eye-patched pirates shouting "Arr!", this movie does not pretend to be anything else than it is - great fun based on popular legends and beliefs rather than the facts on pirate lives. And so much the better! Non-stop action, fantastic score, breathtaking sceneries and props, adequately fun script, and, yes, even good acting (to my surprise, Geena Davis actually managed to deliver a good performance!). Frank Langella is almost as good a pirate as Walter Matthau was in Roman Polanski's equally underrated pirate classic. Hearing various bad comments about the movie, I had low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised to find out that the bad reviews and comments were simply unfair. Apparently, critics these days follow one another in "their" opinions rather than actually watching the movies, and people are looking for violence and blood of "Dobermann" kind...

Great swashbuckling fun!
This film features everything a good pirate flick should: stormy seas, a spectacular naval battle, a sexy pirate captain (Geena Davis) and buried treasure complete with a treasure map written in latin (the preferred language of pirates).

This is one of the few times I've seen Davis in a leading role; normally, she is a supporting actress. She pulls it off quite well, although in a couple of scenes her acting is a bit wooden. Frank Langella stands out as an old-salt, ruthless pirate while Matthew Modine is great as the movie's comic relief.

What really makes this movie worth buying, tho, is just how well done it is. The 17th century sets are lavish - you feel as tho you are back in the period in which the movie takes place. The soundtrack is riveting, and I found the sound of the DVD quite excellent. Not sure if they did anything different than they do with other DVDs, but it sure seemed like the audio was a notch above most DVDs - esp in the storm sequence.

This is the...

Lots of fun for a rather mediocre movie
Cutthroat Island is not a great movie by any means. But it is a lot of fun if you enjoy pirate treasure, sea battles, sword fighting, a great soundtrack, and wonderful period costumes. The script is pretty weak and much of the acting is wooden. Worse yet, it seems that no one learned anything from Errol Flynn's The Sea Hawk because they once again include a rather annoying monkey as comedy relief. But what they do right is what makes this movie worth watching. The film wonderfully recreates the 17th century Caribbean world of the pirates and is probably the most realistic looking realization of this time and place to date. The actual portrayal of the pirates themselves owes more to "Treasure Island" and "Peter Pan" than "The American Sea Rovers", but there is definately something compelling in the romantic myth of the golden age of piracy. The pirate movie has suffered in recent years and Cutthroat will probably do nothing to revive it, which is...

Henry Rollins: Uncut from NYC

More from Henry's Never Ending Stream of Contentiousness
Once again, Henry Rollins doesn't just get in your face, but he's all over it. His never ending stream of contentiousness is captured for an evening once again for his 2006 DVD. HenRoll's got some great stories that I could listen to him tell over and over, just like you would for a good buddy recanting the war stories from the good old days.

A lot of these spoken word/talking shows seem interchangeable to me, where if you like one, you'll like the next -- and I do like them. Not as many bonus features as "Up for It" had; but ironically, there was a featurette of cut clips from the Uncut performance... wha? Oh well, stuff like that just happens sometimes.

Not his best material, but worth watching again and again
If angry, nihilistic punk rock grew up and broke out of its anti-social niche of non-conformity and joined the trendy attire wearing, coffee klatch gossiping, restaurant hopping, Whole Foods shopping, globe trotting, book inhaling world of current 'It-ness,' we would get something that looks and sounds a lot like the post-Black Flag/Rollins Band Henry Rollins. Ever the contrarian, Henry 2.0 channels his rage and indignation into spoken-word keen observations about every type of conceivable pet-peevish thing that irks the hell out of him. Henry admits that he is an angry man but says his urge to rip apart every stupid thing he hates with colorful words and sentences also motivates him to keep living, travelling, reading, learning, seeing, smelling, eating, tasting and breathing. In "Uncut from NYC" Rollins takes us on a tour of the Trans Siberian Railway, he delineates and laments the humanoid creatures popping up across the land which he calls Wal-Martians, and he fires hard-edged...

Uncut laughter
This show is one of Henry's best so far. With the same gripping intensity and humor as "shock and awe" he delivers one sharp-edged obeservation after the other. With fire and intensity he has created a show worth remembering.

Ultimate Fighting Championship, Vol. 64: Unstoppable

Great card and ignore the guy who says the image is bad
This was a good card with two title fights and a solid undercard. Ignore the other reviewer who gave it one star because of the image quality. It is fine and he probably got a bad copy of it.

WOW
UFC 64
UNSTOPPABLE

This was a very historic event in my mind, mainly because of the huge upset that regardless of what people say now was not expected.

1.KURT PELLEGRINO VS JUNIOR ASSUNCAO-this was a quick opening fight to the event with a great rear naked choke applied by Kurt. Junior did the best he could in this one but he was over come early by Kurt. A great quick opening bout.5/5

2.CLAY GUIDA VS JUSTIN JAMES-the first round of this fight was amazing, both of these guys came to fight and win. It was back and forth between these two the entire round, Clay even gets caught in a deadly arm bar yet slips out. The second round was just as exciting as it went back and forth until it had 20 seconds left in the round. That is were it ended with Clay getting the win with a nice rear naked choke.5/5

3.YUSHIN OKAMI VS KALIB STARNES-good enough first round between these two as most of it is just a feeling out process. Other then a few kicks and...

OH MAN!
As a UFC fan, this event had some good fights. I bought it while I was away from home and t.v so I started collecting all of the UFC's. It became just another DVD to the collection.

Air Gear, Vol. 3: A New Legacy

Air Gear
I was bored and running out of cash at the time. The only anime I didn't have that I could afford was Air Gear. Air Gear is a pretty good show. I was quite surprised. It's more of an anime about beating up street gangs who just happen to ride roller blades with electric motors in them. I used to ride roller blades in middle school but I never associated it with being tough. These guys and girls really stick it to each other.

The main character, Ikki, lives with a family of sisters. He is a delinquent in a street gang. One day he finds a pair of "At's" in one of his housemates rooms. The story is about him climbing to the top of the AT battle world with his friends.

This series has a lot to offer. It has action, comedy, drama, and a bit of romance. Not as much as Ikki would like though. The animation is good and so is the soundtrack. It has a different kind vibe to it. It's very pop culture oriented and there is a descent amount of fan service. My only complaint...

Very pretty
Bought this disc to get it signed, and I loved it. Very cute, shiny... Basically everything I could ask for.

ADV's best series yet!
Air Gear vol. 3 is a noteworthy buy since its where the series really picks up the pace. New characters and plot revelations kept me in my seat. I couldnt belive it and the great sense of humor that the first two installments brought is still intact and just as funny. The action gets turned up a notch and the new characters add a real twist to the plot of the story and the main characters.

Chisum

Wayne & McLaglen tackle the Lincoln County War
Based upon historical fact, this film follows the famous range war in which Billy the Kid made his name, but chiefly from the viewpoint of aging cattle baron John Chisum (Wayne in the title role). It's 1878 in New Mexico Territory, and Chisum rides into the local town of Lincoln to meet his niece Sallie (Pamela McMyler) off the stage. His foreman and long-time Good Right Hand, Pepper (Ben Johnson practically stealing the movie--he should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor), remarks upon the many acquisitions being made by would-be real-estate magnate Lawrence J. Murphy (Tucker in a cheerfully malevolent role), but Chisum isn't looking for trouble. Still, he is inexorably drawn into the escalating situation when lawyer Alex McSween (Andrew Prine), whom Sallie befriended on the journey, finds it impossible to turn a blind eye to Murphy's machinations, and helps stake the idealistic Easterner to a store to run in competition with the one Murphy bought out from under its...

STRONG JOHN WAYNE WESTERN
I've always loved John Waynes westerns of the 60's and 70's. Even in older age he was a commanding presence on the screen. Chisum tells the story of the real-life Lincoln County war between John Chisum (wayne) and L.G. Murphy (Forrest Tucker). Chisum is a cattle baron who has settle this area of New Mexico long ago and a well-respected man of the Community. Murphy is the newcomer. A rich man bent on taking over Lincoln County by buying up everything he can and puttin any competitors out of business. This puts him into direct conflict with CHisum. Chisum soon uses his considerable funds to back a store and bank of his own to compete with Murphy.

Chisum is friends with another rich cattleman, a Northeasterner Henry Tunstall. Tunstall just happens to employ a certain young man named Billy Bonney AKA Billy the Kid. Tunstall is a man of God who tries to get Billy to change his lawless ways. Billy finds himself at odds with Chisum due to a romantic interest that forms...

John Chisum: Cattle Magnate and Attempted "Tamer" of Billy the Kid
The setting of this western is New Mexico in the 1870's. John Chisum (John Wayne) describes his flight from Texas following a period of poverty caused by the war (Civil War), and how he had built up the area, acquired a large herd of cattle, and made the area civilized enough that women would want to live there. He respects the local Indian chief, and calls the Comanches a Nation.

Chisum constantly has to fight against interlopers who try to steal his cattle. These include not only petty thieves but also those who think that they OWN the law (in contrast to Chisum, who simply respects the law).

William Bonney (Billy the Kid) arrives, and Chisum, fully aware of his past, nevertheless welcomes him. For a time, it seems as though Billy has turned over a new leaf. He settles down to a regular job, and expresses a desire to shed his murderous reputation. He even reads the Bible, though ostensibly to maintain what little reading skills he has. But then his friend is...

The Skeleton Key [HD DVD]

Surprisingly good, surprisingly effective thriller
Almost every film you watch requires some level of suspension of disbelief. Some genres (Sci-Fi, Horror, Musicals, etc.) require more than others (drama). I am willing to give any film the benefit of the doubt and fully "buy into" the world the filmmakers attempt to create. Because of this, I expect a lot from the filmmakers in return. If they expect me to take that leap of faith, I expect them to deliver believable characters, an interesting, involving story and to make me laugh, believe, get frightened, whatever the story would dictate. If they do that, I usually enjoy the film. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen enough. If they don't, the film becomes a mess. "The Skeleton Key", the new thriller starring Kate Hudson, is a film requiring a fair amount of suspension of disbelief. The key to unlocking its success is to make everything believable. Does it accomplish that?

Caroline (Kate Hudson), a hospice worker in New Orleans, becomes so disillusioned with her job that she...

Great ending.
The Skeleton Key starring Kate Hudson is an interesting horror flick. I enjoyed this film very much, Hudson plays Caroline, she takes care of ill elders. She arrives at a house in New Orleans and strange things begin to happen to the man she is taking care of. A fantastic and scary performance by Gena Rowlands, who knew she could convel such an evil old lady so well. Watch out for the twist ending, didn't see that one coming. Hudson is great as always, she should do more of these types of films. I highly recommend The Skeleton Key!

This movie's got its mojo workin'.
Iain Softley's "The Skeleton Key" is a deliciously creepy entertainment for a lazy afternoon or evening. Softley builds the story slowly, marinating us in the spooky atmosphere of a dilapidated Louisiana bayou mansion, until we're just as hypnotized as the hapless heroine. That heroine, played by Kate Hudson, comes to the house to help a tart-tongued old woman (Gena Rowlands) take care of her stroke-immobilized husband (John Hurt). From there, she gets far more embroiled than she'd like in the hoodoo-laced history of the house and its inhabitants. Working from a screenplay by Ehren Krueger ("The Ring"), Softley places the pieces of the story in jigsaw-puzzle fashion; the placement of the last piece knocks you for a loop with a surprise ending you'll be thinking about for days. Hudson--who has much of her mother's charm, plus a certain pizzazz all her own--gives a totally satisfying performance as the heroine; Hurt (in a nearly wordless performance) and Rowlands also are excellent, as...

Rio Bravo (Two-Disc Special Edition)

a casual, brilliant film
Rio Bravo is one of a handful of movies (see also The Quiet Man) that belies the one-note, tough-guy stereotype that so many people associate with John Wayne. Here he is endearing (his scenes with Walter Brennan are hilarious and genuine) and, dare I say, even somewhat sensitive in his own way (his firm method of "treatment" for Dean Martin's alcoholic character is something a counselor friend of mine finds priceless). The rest of the cast is wonderful as well: Brennan is cranky, Martin is wounded but charismatic, Angie Dickinson is sly and assured and Ricky Nelson, surprisingly, does more than just hold his own and look pretty (*and* he sings a duet with Dean Martin). Everyone involved here obviously had a ton of fun making the movie, but more importantly the film exudes that sense of good cheer without undercutting the narrative tension. Director Howard Hawks certainly had a great deal to do with the quick pacing and the tightness of the ensemble, both of...

Bravo for Rio Bravo!
"Rio Bravo" is a very entertaining and quality film suitable for the entire family.

The film boasts an all-star cast that boasts a wealth of talent. John Wayne is the tough sherrif John T. Chance, who has to hold a prisoner charged with murder in his small jail awaiting the arrival of the territory judge. Wayne gives one of his best performances. Dean Martin plays Wayne's troubled drunk deputy. Martin surprises everyone by showing just how wonderful an actor he is. In a difficult role, Martin excels. Angie Dickenson is Wayne's love interest. Dickenson's role is also an emotionally challenging bit of acting, but she pulls it off easily with room to spare. Walter Brennan is Wayne's crippled deputy and he also excels and provides comic relief. Brennan is so convincing as the crippled leg deputy that many fans of Brennan believed that he was actually crippled in real life. Brennan walked as good as anyone and it is a tribute to him that he convinced all of us that he...

Excellent DVD movie....
Rio Bravo is one of John Wayne's more enjoyable movies and this movie is considered to be one of the greatest westerns ever made. Wayne is superbly supported by Dean Martin who also carried the movie as well as Ricky Nelson, Walter Brennan and Angie Dickinson. Great cast, superb script and excellent direction make this movie a viewing a pleasure many times over. It has everything anyone want in a John Wayne movie. Gunfights, fist fights, slow developing story to developed all the main characters and even pacing with a song or two thrown in. So successful was this movie that it was remade two more times as El Dorado and Rio Lobo. Amazingly, all three movies were directed by Howard Hawks and starred John Wayne. Even more amazing is that all three movies proves to be just as good and entertaining as ever.

This two disc Special Edition of Rio Bravo is a definite upgrade in both quality of image as well as sound over the previous release. I found the running commentary by John...

2. Good old Whatshisname

3. New Digs

4. Krab a la mode

5. Roller Coward

6. Bucket sweet Bucket

7. Breath of Fresh Squidward (Original Animatics as a bonus feature)

Aslso a bonus is Meet Bikini Bottom inhabitors.

Spongebob Squarepants - Friend Or Foe is another great DVD for season 5.

Good DVD Disagree with some reviewers
This is a good DVD. First of all, 20,000 Patties Under the Sea is on the new DVD Pest of the West not Bikini Bottom Adventures. I own this DVD and I think it has two outstanding episodes with a few good ones as well. The two outstanding ones were Krabs A La Mode and Roller Cowards. They were both filled with humor and good storylines (especially Krabs a La Mode) I enjoyed Boat Smarts, a comparison of a good driver (Squidward) and a bad one (Spongebob). They were all pretty good except for Good Ole' Whatshisname. I don't get these half episode episodes. GIVE US REGULAR LENGTH!!!

my son loves SB

Iguana Sing Along

My kids love watching this!
My kids have this in the car and they love it! My daughter sings along to all the songs, even the iguana sleep song. We all really like the whole Dora/Diego shows, but this one was right up to par with the rest.

I would highly recommend this.

My Son Scream - DIEEEGO
One of the best products for preschoolers. The Iguana Sing Along is another great collection, my son loves it, he can play Diego the whole day long. When I opened the Amazon's package and my son saw Diego he screamed - DIEEEGO, that one, that one! Great messages in all episodes, Diego teaches not only Spanish, but music rhythm, sing-along, courtesy, humbleness, and to care about animals and nature. 5 stars to this little Animal Rescuer.

Iguana Sing Along
This Diego video gets 4 stars from me because of 2 reasons. The first reason being it does not play in all dvd capable players. I had trouble playing it in the ps2 but it worked fine in the dvd player and the mini dvd player. The second reason I gave the video only 4 stars was because the title was a little bit misleading. I thought that Diego had an actual "Sing Along" video but it was like the regular Diego shows.

The sing along part of the title comes from the iguanas that are preparing to do a song, which is about 8 lines long but they have to find Iggy first before their official "sing along" can commence.

Book 2: Earth 3

A Great Series!
I'm not going to lie to you. This is my first ever review so if I mess up a little bit then please forgive me. First off, lemme say that Avatar: The Last Airbender is a great series for all ages! If you are into martial arts then it's perfect for you. Now to the nitty, gritty. This dvd is definitely one to add to you collection in the series. It's just my opinion of course. I don't like to tell much about shows and movies but I will tell you to watch the episode of when Team Avatar goes up against The Drill. That's the one that sold me. the fifth episode was great also. Just my opinion. You don't have to take my word for it. Just watch it and see for yourself.

Great to watch with my daughter.
My wife and I loved watching this series with our 17 year old daughter. Ya it's kind of campy and corny in spots, but the characters are very engaging and I really like the moral lessons.

I strongly recommend watching the series in order as they build off of each other.

I heard that they were going to make a live action movie based on this. I hope it happens!

Great, But...
The episodes are fantastic, but this DVD did NOT come with the third part of the comic as advertised... did anyone else have that issue with their DVDs? The first and second DVD of Season 2 came with the mini-comics, but not this one...

WWE: WrestleMania 23

20 Years Later, They Return To Detroit...All Grown Up
This WrestleMania turned out to be the biggest event in the history of the company with it being completely centered around the fact that they return to Detroit 20 years after the historic WrestleMania 3...hense the nickname of "All Grown Up." Thoughout the night, you'll see WWE revisit & try to recreate classic moments from that event such as Aretha Franklin returning to WrestleMania to sing the National Anthem once again. And one thing to really check out was all the different & unique entrances.

"Money In The Bank" Ladder Match - Edge vs. Randy Orton vs. King Booker vs. Finlay vs. Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk vs. Mr. Kennedy...Kennedy (sorry, I had to do that) - Damn, they knew how to kick this PPV off in style and this was the best Money In The Bank match to date. Not every participant was able to get a "highlight reel" spot but everyone held their own & was able make this the one of the best matches of the night. Some great moments to look out for where...

The last Wrestlemania I saw in high school.
I'll always enjoy Wrestlemania because this is the event where moments become legendary and dream matches happen. 2007 was my final year in high school and this was a great Wrestlemania to see. It may be a bit smaller than the Manias before this one, but I still think the card was fine.

Money In The Bank Ladder Match - Edge vs. Randy Orton vs. King Booker vs. Finlay vs. Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk vs. Mr. Kennedy- First let me say, why was Edge & Randy Orton in this match? Don't get me wrong, I love both wrestlers but I wished they had a one on one match on this PPV instead. Anyway, if you've seen the last MITB matches; then you know what to expect with this match. It was a great opener to start the show. Everyone put on a fine performance. The main highlight is when Jeff Hardy dives on Edge on ladder outside the ring, which results in breaking the ladder (and Edge for that matter) in half. The winner comes as a complete shock to me.

Money in the bank ladder match-edge vs. jeff hardy vs. randy orton vs. booker t vs. cm punk vs. mr.kennedy vs matt hardy vs. finlay
This match is 19 min. of awesome. This was very fast paced through the whole match and is very enjoyable and has some Joey Styles Oh My God moments. This match is Highflying, exciting, and freckin brutal. I wasn't happy that mr.kennedy won because he was still a rising star here. Awesome moments when edge went through the ladder, punk getting rkoed off the ladder, booker t pulling out a mini ladder, and edge having a spear fest. A lot of moments that stole the show. But the stupidest thing is that Jeff Hardy wasted a perfect time to become the number 1 contender to the wwe or world title.

Larry the Cable Guy: Morning Constitutions

Larry is JUST PLAIN FUNNY!
A recent "60 Minutes" profile of Larry went almost as far as to infer that if you're a fan of sophisticated humor like Seinfeld or George Carlin or if you're not a redneck born in the heartland or the Bible belt, then you won't understand why Larry is the most popular comedian of this century. Well, I live in a decidedly urban setting (Philadelphia), love Streisand, read The New Yorker, watch Anderson Cooper, find myself agreeing with that "loudmouth" Rosie more often than not, openly support Gay rights, vote Democratic and my politics are as far to the left as I believe humanly possible. Yet I still love Larry!!! To hell with political correctness and what some might consider pandering to the lowest common denominator. Face it, funny is funny and this man makes me laugh like no one else. And the man is the highest grossing comedian in the world for the last 3 years running so I am certainly not alone. How come Jerry Seinfeld can do entire episodes poking fun of the mentally...

Larry's Back!!!
I got this dvd the other day, and it's even better than Git R Done, which I didn't think was possible. If you like Larry the Cable Guy, you will love this dvd. It is a must own.

Larry the Cable guy
I enjoyed this film. He is funny and is so right on in this day of everyone trying to be so politically correct.

I ended up buying tons of straight cookbooks after this lousy experience. Her cooking tips and suggestions are not that helpful. The recipes are not practical and its just a hot mess altogether. Don't waste your time or money like I did.... RUN AWAY FAST!!!!!

WWE: The Ladder Match

One Of The Most Innovative Matches Of All Time
It's amazing how a simple concept for a match (climb up a ladder & grab the belt) has spawn so many memorable moments in the history of professional wrestling and WWE picked out a wonderful collection of matches here to illistrate how the ladder match has spawn off so many memorable to classic moments in wrestling & was also the catalist for so many versions of this match including TLC, Stairway To Hell in ECW, and King Of The Mountain in TNA.

North American Champion Jake Roberts vs. Big Daddy Ritter (Junkyard Dog) - This was joined in progress and it was using a one sided ladder with the referees holding it steady while the wrestlers climbed up. Nothing special past the historical factor.
Stampede Wrestling '79

Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels - Two years before the more famous ladder match between Shawn & Razor Ramon would happen at WrestleMania, the very first ladder match in WWE history happened here. Both men went away from their...

WWE FANS...YOU CAN'T MISS THIS ONE!!!
This is, without a doubt, one of the best WWE videos I've ever owned, and I've been buying them since 1990! Every match is shown in it's entirety, including wrestler entrances. You'll get to see old school classics like HBK vs Bret Hart from July 1992, HBK vs Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) at SummerSlam 1995, and Rock vs Triple H at SummerSlam 1998.

You also get some of the best TLC matches with Edge & Christian, The Dudleyz, and The Hardyz. They even included recent matches like the first Money in the Bank from Wrestlemania 21 and Edge vs John Cena at Unforgiven 2006.

So they basically included every classic ladder match from the mid-70's to the present time, except for matches that we've all seen a million times (like HBK vs Razor Ramon from Wrestlemania 10). I think there are 21 total matches. This video is less than $20 but I probably would have paid triple that amount, because the quality of the matches on this DVD is simply outstanding. THIS IS A MUST BUY...

You'll never get bored with this dvd
I pre-ordered this a while back and somehow got it in the mail yesterday, 3 days before its release date. Lucky me, hell we're all lucky to see all these matches. For me personally, it was a chance to see the classics (like the TLC's), matches I haven't seen in years (Smackdown's TLC, RVD vs.Guerrero), and matches I've never seen period (4 way tag team match at Armegeddon, Benoit v. Jericho at Royal Rumble).

I've seen maybe half of all the matches so far, and I'm constantly picking my jaw up off the floor. So many highlights, I won't even bother to go into detail. Clearly, the is THE best dvd has ever put out, bar none.

My only gripe is the very first match, Jake Roberts (he's not even "The Snake" yet) v. Big Daddy Ritter (aka, Junkyard Dog). It's probably on here for nostalgia, to see these guys early in their career. Not a fun match, watch it once, then pretend it never happened. One of the funnier things I noticed on the Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon match is an...

Meatballs (Special Edition)

INFORMATION ABOUT THE 2007 SPECIAL EDITION
Update: Just received mine last week (6/14/07) and it is ONE disc, not two. Picture quality is BEAUTIFUL! The night scenes are actually not one big black blob!

Just an update on the 2007 2-disc Special Edition of Meatballs, since Amazon is not providing any information and all the reviews on this page deal with the less than stellar previous dvd release. The 2007 Special Edition is digitally remastered in Widescreen 1.85:1 Color (Anamorphic). It is in 5.1 Dolby Digital Stereo [CC] and it features subtitles in English, Spanish and French.

DVD Features:
- Commentary with Director Ivan Reitman
- "Summer Camp: The Making of Meatballs" Featurette

Amazingly, no theatrical trailer is included. Also available in Blu-Ray.

Technical Specs:
- Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1 - Digitally Re-mastered
- Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1

Hey, You Have a Good Summer, Too
This is one of my favorite movies from childhood, and I still love it (I'm now 27).

Bill Murray is terrific as head counselor Tripper Harrison in this warm and funny feel-great movie. All of the players in the ensemble cast are good, and the music is also really effective. If you like summer, good times, goofy humor, if you were born in the seventies (or even if you weren't) check out "Meatballs". It's a great way to spend a Friday evening--make something strange for a midnight snack and put on "Meatballs".

As for the DVD transfer, here are a couple of comments:

1. It does include the trailer. 2. It's a "matted" widescreen version, which means you actually see less than you do on the full-screen VHS version, because they simply lay black bars across the top and bottom of the full-screen image (I compared the two versions scene-to-scene). 3. For some reason, some of the music has been changed in the DVD version. I found this...

Best Summer Camp Movie Ever
As a person who spent many of my summers at camp I found this movie to be excellent. It also doesn't hurt that this movie stars Bill Murray...one of my favorites. I've owned this movie on VHS for many years now and have watched it numerous times. I just bought the DVD and noticed that the actual song titled "Meatballs" (originally written and performed by Rick Dees) is different than it is on the VHS version. The DVD version is actually sung (or more like halfway spoken/rapped) by Bill Murray himself. There is also about ten seconds of footage added at the end of the cafeteria scene that isn't on the VHS. Not much, but to a fan of the movie it's kind of cool. I wish the DVD had more features on it (like deleted scenes), but none the less this is still probably the best camp movie you could ask for.

Jamie Foxx: America's Funniest Comics, Vol. 2

Not as funny as #1
I love Jamie Foxx, but he's barely in these dvd's , for the money it's worth it but I won't be buying any more volumes

Pretty good
This dvd is a study in hilarity. 2 of the comics bget a B, but the rest give A+ performances. Todd Lynn is my pick. This brother brings it on in every performance of his I have seen. A must see.

static
Something is wrong with the DVD. For some reason it skips and stops on it's own. I can't play past it. I couldn't do anything with it. I tried just fast forwarding through the part but it wouldn't allow it.

Alien

Don't listen to the "official" reviews which appear above
Amazon's reviewer calls this movie overrated and drawn out, while the Leonard Maltin movie guide review seems a bit baffled that some people like this kind of entertainment. Don't listen to either of them. Alien is, quite simply, one of the best movies ever made in both the sci-fi and horror genres. Those who complain that the film takes too long to get going suffer from some kind of cinematic attention span disorder; Ridley Scott draws his scenes out because he wants to build tension and establish a sense of realism before introducing H.R. Giger's terrifying creation. Unfortunately we can all see that the monster is just a guy in a suit during the closing sequences when Scott finally lets us see what the big slimy nemesis really looks like, but otherwise the film hasn't aged a bit since it came out two decades ago. The DVD is great too, with excellent picture quality and a really great commentary track, despite some disastrously inappropriate menu screens (the...

Alien - A true Sci-Fi treasure in the genre!
"Alien" is one of the most intense Sci-Fi thrillers to have ever graced the silver screen or the home theater in any format! It is the film's intensity that provides such an incredible draw to this extraordinary film. If you're looking for a lot of action, this film is not really what you're looking for; "Aliens" is where the intensity and action comes into play in the line of Alien movies; the whole theme behind "Alien" is to scare to pants off of you with extremely intense scenes and if you've never seen this movie before, it may very well do just that! Never before in the history of this genre had there been a film of this magnitude and few have matched it in it's intensity since.

Now, with this latest release, fans of "Alien" are treated to the best release of this film yet. The very first thing you'll notice when you put this DVD into your player is that you have the option of playing either the 1979 Theatrical Release or a 2003...

Iconographic Horror
ALIEN received mixed reviews when it debuted in 1979--largely from science fiction critics, who accused it of being little more than a sort of "Friday the 13th in Outer Space," a blood-and-gore horror flick given a futuristic twist via some problematic special effects. But while these accusations have more than a little truth, it has been an incredibly influential film--and even today, in the wake of CGI effects, it still holds up extremely, extremely well.

The story is well known: the crew of an interstellar craft responds to what seems a distress signal, only to encounter a remarkably lethal alien life form that boards their ship and sets about picking them off one by one. Some of the special effects are weak (the alien spacecraft and the android "revival" are fairly notorious). There is little in the way of character development, the film has a fairly slow pace, and the story itself is predictable; you can usually guess who is going to die next.

BUT. The art designs are...

Wedding Workout

Homemade Video
I took a chance in buying this workout dvd. It didn't have any reviews, which I don't let reviews persuade me to buy or not buy a workout dvd, but I do not like certains things in workout dvds and if this one had reviews and my dislike(s) were mentioned in a review(s), then I wouldn't have bought the dvd.

Before, taking a chance on this dvd, I've gone on youtube to search for a clip of the workout, but none was there. I've searched the internet for a clip and nothing came up, so I've gone ahead and took a chance on this dvd. If I knew it was going to be a homemade dvd, I wouldn't have wasted my money. Thank goodness, the third party seller was selling the dvd for 1 cents and I've paid $2.99 for the dvd.

The workout is filmed in someone's house. Maybe's the instructor's house. I have some workout dvds that are filmed on a living room stage, but they look professional. The instructors are well known instructors.

If this workout is not filmed in a house,...

Great workout book!
I bought this workout book when I wanted to get a little more fit before my wedding.
It has great illustrations of the exercises and has a variety of workouts.
This book is not just for wedding prep--it is a great workout for anyone. I refer to it from time to time to remember certain exercises or to get ideas for workouts. It's a book worth keeping after the wedding is over, so I would recommend it as a gift (for a bride who is interested in working out--we don't want to be offensive). :)

Rescue Me: The Complete Third Season

Spectacular
The third, and arguably best, season of Rescue Me may have treaded on familiar territory, but it worked out with spectacular results nonetheless. As the season begins, Tommy (Denis Leary) is once again seperated from his wife (Andrea Roth) who still holds him responsible for the death of their son, while Tommy's uncle (Lenny Clarke) enjoys his time in prison for murder. Jerry (Jack McGee) copes with his wife's debilitating mental health, Sean (Steven Pasquale) gets in way, way over his head with Tommy's crazy sister (Tatum O'Neal), while Franco (Daniel Sunjata) gets involved with a vendictive older woman (Susan Surandon) who plans on making him pay one way, or the other. The main storyline of this season though is the love triangle between Tommy and his wife, as well as his cop brother (Dean Winters), which naturally as one would come to expect, doesn't end well for anybody involved. The season reaches it's boiling point (literally) as the crew appears to go their seperate ways,...

Best Original Show In The History Of Cable TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could give you a detailed synopsis of season 3 but the previous reviewer did a god job and there is no need to say it again. What I will say is if you are looking for a show that can make you cry, laugh, and feel fuzzy inside, all in one episode, then this is the show for you. In my opinion Rescue Me is the best original show I have ever seen on cable television, possibly all time. Rescue blows The Shield completely away.

The actors in this show are phenominal, most are actors not seen anywhere else, but everyonce in a while a huge actor will make an appearance or two. But every actor plays their part exceptionally well. Dennis Leary is the star of the show and his acting is way beyond any expectations I ever had of him.

As the previous review stated, this season does not having the shocking moments but it has just as much if not more intensity than the other two combined.

This is by far the best show on TV!!!!!

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!
I re-watched season 3 and this show deserves every award possible. I loved seasons 1 & 2, and the 3rd doesn't disappoint. And best of all it is so FUNNY. Definitely the funniest season yet. I laughed so much in the first half of this season, which was a nice complement to some of the really heavy intensity of season 2. "I might need a sandwich...Mrs. Turbidy"

Denis Leary is a god. Not just a brilliant producer, comic, writer, but his acting is just stellar. And I don't know if anyone could ever top the performance of Steve Pasquale as Garrity. His comic timing is impeccable and he is 100% convincing as one of the stupidest but most harmless guys in the world. He was really at the top of his game in Season 3. He had great material to work with but his delivery is top notch. All the characters are just such a mess, but it's never taken to a level where it seems ridiculous and unbelievable. And the fact that the women are just as much a mess as the men makes it even...

Secrets of the Code

Jamesview
This film / documentary has an excellent viewpoint - which is that everyone has a viewpoint (story). There are many viewpoints here.
I particularly liked the introduction by Susan Sarandon.
The Da Vinci Code was a good story. It may not be "history" - but does raise interesting questions. People can check out the "facts." Secrets of the Code will increase the conversation.
I think many philosophers and mystics would agree --
Everything is a story --- Even God.

Curious
After I watched the video it brought into focus some of the inconsistencies that have surrounded Dan Browns book.
It certainly left some things to think about.

Great program
Susan Sarandon has a nice voice and the program is very well done and I remember seeing it when it first came out and since the price point of the DVD was good I picked it up. I purchased the Blu Ray version of Davinci Code and got my interest up again in the back story in more detail. It is not just one sided and is objective with the subject and thats the only way to be.

NBA: All Access

Terrific!
I purchased this DVD because it was my desire to do so. As I did so, I viewed the aforenoted DVD and found it quite terrific.

A nice NBA-authorized view of the workdays of NBA players.
An insightful look beyond the games into today's NBA personalities. There's a great section on training camp that emphasizes the work required to get the players to get back into playing condition. The extras are pretty nice too, showing inside stories on a range of NBA players, from a guy coming up from the NBDL, to a veteran on a young team (Baron Davis), to the development of the next great center (Dwight Howard). The DVD emphasizes stories revolving around the sweet-hearts of the league, so also expect to see a lot of LeBron James, the Suns, and Dwayne Wade.

Remember that this disc was constructed before the 2007 playoffs, as no coverage of LeBron's 25 point explosion is documented, no mention of Golden State's first round dominance of the Mavericks is made, and the 2007 Spurs aren't celebrated as NBA Champions. You will, however, be treated to a look at the Miami Heat locker-room celebration of their 2006 championship win.

One gripe I have is that the...

Kenny is a real kid pleaser!
Ok, it would seem that a story about a girl who keeps a pet shark in her home would be just too much, but hey, it works! My kids love Kenny. AVP - Alien Vs. Predator (Lenticular Cover Edition)

Blu-Ray of AVP DOES have the unrated cut.
Blu Ray review:

The Biggest thing about this BD of AVP that is consistently not mentioned is that the BD contains BOTH the PG-13 theatrical cut AND the unrated directors cut of the film. Amazon only lists the disc as the PG-13 version, and even an external BD review site failed to mention the inclusion of the unrated cut. So if you've wanted to get AVP on BD and haven't due to a lack of the unrated cut, fear not, it's on the disc.

Video quality is good. It's not the best picture I've seen, but it's nowhere near the worst. Definitely better than the DVD 4/5 overall

Sound is good as well. Just like video, it's not the best, but it's not the worst. Choices are DTS-HD 5.1 (4-4.6 mbps) in English. French and Spanish in Regular Dolby Digital 5.1 (not HD audio). Overall a 4/5 for the DTS-HD track.

This review isn't about the movie itself, nor is it meant to be all-inclusive. My main reason for writing the review is that the unrated cut isn't...

In Defense of AVP
While most critics have dripped acid on Paul Anderson's "Alien vs. Predator," apparently due to prima facie objections to the very idea of a non-courtroom-drama with the word "versus" in the title, I was pleasantly surprised by AVP.

Is AVP as great as 1986's "Aliens"? Nope. But I think comparing AVP to "Aliens" is to employ the wrong standard. AVP is not competing with that film, in much the same way that "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" was not competing with the sensational "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan." No, "Star Trek VI" was competing with the largely reviled "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier." Similarly, AVP is really competing with the oppressively dark, fundamentally unappealing "Alien 3" and strangely goofy, utterly unexciting "Alien Resurrection"; the last Predator movie, 1990's "Predator 2," was released so long ago and did such middling box office that it hardly figures in the popular imagination anymore.

Some have complained about...

Better than the Theatrical Release, but not by much.
For those of you who see "AVP Unrated" and think "Blood, Gore, Language, Violence, and Nudity"...THINK AGAIN!

Where there was a few flecks of blood, there is now a gallon. Where there were two "campy" scenes, there is now only one, But this is not even an "R" rating version of the film, evidenced further by the PG-13 rating on the back of the DVD case.

This fild should have stuck with the "Director's Cut" name and cut out the "Unrated" label, since in my opinion it does not deserve it. If you can swallow the plausability of the story even a litte bit, the this version is more serious and bloodier than the theatrical release, but not by much. "Campy" scenes still abound. Extra footage, edited in Deleted scenes from the Theatrical DVD version and a few other scene changes make this version a lot more fun to own than the first, but hard core fans of the original movies may still find this title a little wimpy.

With all that negative feedback out of the...

Blake McGrath: Dance Driven - Hip Hop and More

better to watch than to dance to...
no doubt about blake being highly trained over the years, and a real pro; it's just that the rest of us, who are not exactly professional dancers, will find ourselves in some kind of trouble following this video... it contains a classical ballet section, with some leg over-stretching that i would not recommend trying unless you are some kind of blake. a jazz section, also included, presentes the same picture; it's too fast. if you're an intermediate or a beginner, this is not for you. if you are an experienced dancer, fit and trained, then it is for you...

Not what I was looking for.
I'm a dancer and I love finding new choreography, but this isn't really a dance dvd, it is more of a dvd praising Blake McGrath. He is a very talented dancer and the moves are okay, but unless you are a big fan of his don't waste your money.

He rocks!
I bought the DVD directly from his website when he used to sell it himself. Great instruction, great music from fantasia of american idol...Blake is a real talent. I liked the DVD a lot.

Clifford: Happy Birthday Clifford!

A good Clifford party DVD
Unlike some other Clifford DVDs that are associated with a holiday or event, this one actually has more than one story associated with holiday or event. In this case there are four part related stories and four other unrelated stories that are nonetheless very nice; they are : The Best Party Ever * Clifford's Big Surprise * Potluck Party Pooper * It's My Party * T-Bone, Dog About Town * Clifford's Big Heart (Inexplicably about Valentine's day, I can't see why they didn't put it on the actual Valentine DVD) * Mimi's Back In Town * The Best Gift. I love the stories about Mimi, I'll just put that out there. The one thing I'll say about this DVD is that it does have two stories featuring Jetta heavily, who, if you've seen any of the other Clifford stories you'll know, is just unsufferably obnoxious. Still, if you can stand her, this is a good DVD for a party or whatnot.

30 Minute Meals with Rachael Ray - Fasta Pasta 1

Okay I guess
I have been anxious about learning how to cook faster because of my busy schedule. I heard a lot about Rachel's tapes and bought 3 or 4. After reviewing them I really didn't learn anything new. The meals weren't that interesting but it was nice to finally see what her show was about. Maybe if I tuned in more I would get something productive from the tapes/show. I won't buy another cooking video but I will keep looking for a book to meet my needs. So overall I guess it was okay... nothing to jump for joy about.

SIDEBAR: The Fasta Pasta Microwave Container was GREAT!! It became our life saver. Now that item is worth singing about. Include it with your quick microwave cooking arsenal and you are set. GREAT INVENTION.

Gift
This was bought as a gift for someone else and she liked it, so it is good enough for me!

Rednightengale
This is a nice DVD that shows Rachel Ray in her earlier days making some meals. It's just like her tv program. She makes one complete meal thru the course of the program. I bought it because I thought she was demonstrating the "Fasta Pasta" pasta microwave container. It wasn't that at all. So don't confuse it with the other product sold under the same name...which is an excellent product in its own right. I will keep the DVD because it is a nice demo of a meal plan for entertaining or just serving your family and friends. I liked it alot, but was disappointed it didn't show her using the Fasta Pasta pasta maker.

The Nurse

The Nurse
Another of the producer Pierre David's classy thrillers which features Lisa Zane in a surprisingly effective and chilling role. Zane plays Laura Harriman, a nurse whose father was recently accused of embezzlement. When Laura walks in on her father committing suicide and murdering her mother and brother, she vows revenge on the man who accused her father. After Bob Martin, the man who made the accusation, has a stroke after hearing of Laura's family's tragedy, Laura decides to take on her revenge now and take a job as his live-in nurse. Now, Bob is helpless and paralyzed, at the mercy of his new caretaker: Nurse Harriman. Above-average direct-to-video thriller has some decent scares and moments of suspense, but the plot seems to go almost nowhere in some scenes. The performances are good and I found that the music suited the film beautifully adding an eerie feel to it. Unfortunately, the plot holes and the plot going nowhere lower the rating for this. **The reason why Nurse Laura...

Hand That Rocks The Cradle it's not ...
But it's not bad, either. Thoroughly entertaining flick about a misfit nurse who swears revenge against a man who caused her father to commit suicide after killing her mother and brother. I found some of the suspense scenes to be rather humorous at times, and the plot holes made the movie even funnier. Good pick for fans of cheap cinema.

If You Enjoy Lifetime Movies You'll Enjoy This One
This film plays out just like the "chick-flicks" on LMN or Lifetime Network and it's enjoyable at that level. I'm surprised those networks haven't featured this movie. Pour a glass of wine, fold laundry, pay bills, etc. and enjoy the movie at the same time.

Not as hard as I expected.
Only have done Mission 1 and not as hard as I thought it would be. Will have to buy an exercise band and then it might be harder. I am a lover of Taebo from the old "Live" series but just getting back into it.

Comedy Club Greats

Kicking myself
I wouldn't buy this if you have access to Comedy Central and a VCR. It's outmoded retread late 80's fare that wasn't even that funny back then anyway. I deserve to lose my ten bucks cause I fell for the bait of Seinfeld, Attell, and Sandler. Seinfeld's on for about 2 minutes, Attell does material you've heard from him before if you're remotely a fan of his, and Sandler, well, I guess he's ok. A curious aside--why is every comic(like 10) Jewish? I just finished watching it and its going into the trash just so I don't stumble upon it in my dvd collection years from now.

One for the trash
This is a ZERO star product. Going right to the trash, sorry. Seinfeld is on for a couple jokes and that's it, even though he's on the cover. Very misleading!

Meh
This is a nostalgic dvd that brings back memories of the comedy club boom of the 80's and early 90's. Unfortunately, the material isn't classic enough and is probably still fresh in the minds of die-hard stand-up comedy fans. Perhaps a newcomer to standup would be more impressed by it. Also, comedy was a bit too safe and dull during that time period, so the dvd might generate a few chuckles rather than heavy laughter. Seinfeld fans will feel deceived since he merely hosted the dvd, yet appears on the cover. Thankfully my copy came from a $2 bin. It was worth the price just to see Dave Attell with hair.

Talking to Heaven

Living with the Dead
James Van Praagh (Ted Danson) sees dead people; only he does not like it. His father admonishes his abilities, he almost had a girlfriend until he spooked her, his mother haunts him, and every time he tries to us his abilities something goes wrong.

Just as he tries to quit, everyone presses him to go on to help solve a 30 year old murder with really spooky consequences. Is he the victim, the innocent bystander or maybe the perpetrator? Will the case get solved?

The film starts out very slow paced, for a while you think you may be watching a religious documentary. It seems to deviate this way and that off course. Then in the second half the pace picks up and you get absorbed and intrigued as it gets spookier and spookier. By the end you find that the film did not deviate and every word, every gesture forms a tapestry to review an overall picture.

A surprising plus is the quality of acting. I was especially surprised at Queen Latifah's port rail of...

Surprised At How it Kept Me Interested

SportsCentury Greatest Athletes: Barry Bonds

Not what I had hoped for
I was hoping that this DVD would show tons of highlight footage of Barry Bonds' actual accomplishments on the field, not just his home runs, but his fielding, base stealing, etc. If you added up all the actual historical "highlight" video footage, it would be the total sum of less than 3 minutes. Very disappointing.

This dvd was less about baseball and more about the press getting even with what they dislike about Barry and his alleged steroid use - the first 30+ minutes is dedicated only to this - then they do about a 10+ minute bio on his life, then go back to the steroid controversy. What you purchase is countless negative video opinions from sports writers, ex-team mates, coaches, etc., video of Barry's most cynical answers about his own personality and/or career, plus his arguements on and off the field with the press. The "bonus features" are actually better than the main featured story - but again, only interview footage.

I would NOT recommend this dvd...

Bargain Bonds Story
Great footage of baseball's best player ever - enhanced or not. The story doesn't dodge all the controversy, but it also doesn't linger on it at the expense of showing key footage of the Bonds historic career. When you see how talented, fast and strong he is as a "youngster" you'll wonder why he ever thought he needed to bulk up.
All the ESPN bios are great -- and on sale cheap since they must have produced too many of them.

Very Funny!!!
I thought this was a really good funny movie! Eddie Murphy is back doing what he does best! He plays Norbit Rice, and his mistreating obese wife, Rasputia. In the middle of the movie, Norbit's childhood girlfriend, Kate comes back to town, hoping to buy the orphanage that she and Norbit grew up in. Kate's fiance and Rasputia's brothers try to stop Kate so they can open a strip club. Later, Norbit finally gets courage with the help of some friendly pimps, and Mr. Wong to tell Kate the truth and win her love. If you love comedies, and Eddie Murphy, you'll love NORBIT!!!!

Funniest movie I have seen in a while
Eddie Murphy is a comic actor genius! How many actors can play three different characters and make each character perform perfect in their respective roles??? This movie was a riot. I watched it three times in the same day. I am not an Eddie Murphy fan but this movie proves that he belongs among the greatest comedians in Hollywood's history.

So Funny!!!!
People who compare this role to the role Eddie played in Dreamgirls are silly, these are 2 totally different movies. Norbit is crude humor at it's best, if you are easily offended or looking for a serious drama, don't purchase or rent this movie and the nutty professor, it is not! Eddie plays multiple roles excellently as we know, the film also stars Cuba Goodin Jr.,Thandie Newton and a hilarious cameo from Marlon Wayans, not much substance as far as a plot is concerned , not a love story -just a raunchy, crude performance by Eddie Murphy but hilarious nonetheless and funny is actually and understatement.

30 Minute Meals with Rachael Ray - Fun and Fast

Great cook, great talk show
it seems like to me Rachael Ray is a top cooking expert. I have read most of her cookbooks, watched many episodes on the Food Network. Her talk show is excellent and she will continue with her success. She has made cooking a great name for the ones who dont want to spend all the time in the kitchen. Short cut is her middle name. I would love to have rachael visit with me about life, cook for me and take me to all those places known for the great food and only with $40.00 . I love it when she says EVOO.

Gift
This was bought as a gift for someone else and she liked it, so it is good enough for me!

Good eats
This title was a gift to a friend and he really enjoyed it. Rachel has great ideas for getting dinner on the table fast.

Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck

Just not a very good film
I know this was a low budget film that went straight to video, still it is worth pointing out to potential viewers that while sometimes this happens to even good films, that isn't the case with this movie.

Poorly filmed, possibly in an unsuccessful effort to appear 'artistic', poorly acted, and very short on reality, this just turns out to be a waste of viewing time for nearly any viewer.

Those interested in 'True Crime' will be turned off by the lack of accuracy, as well as the absence of any real detailed truths. Viewers hungry for 'violence' will be disappoined that only one murder was actually enacted and little gore was depicted and even that will be considered tame and uninteresting by those who enjoy that sort of thing. Inconsistencies will bug even the casual viewer; such as the use of the terms 'forensics' and 'mass murder'; terms not in common usage even by police personnel in 1966. Though mass murder has occurred in the United States long before...

Quickly Made, Cheaply Done
I have got to think that maybe it's not a great idea to make feature length videos about dull-witted and very boring criminals who go on alcohol/drug-induced murder sprees. What we end up seeing is sa dull-witted and boring as the villian we watch, It's just not entertaining.

I knew this was a clunker from the first scene when "Texan" Richard Speck wearing what else but a cowboy hat steals his neighbors car and is chased on foot by a woman calling his name. This is the poorest character/location establishment I've seen outside an elementary school production.

Other lowpoints (or lowerpoints I should say) are the sole survivor Filipina nurse who confronts Speck in court. Here's a woman the viewer might want to empathise with, but not so. The actresses performance couldn't be crappier or more unbelievable had it been on Lifetime channel.
Locations are often poor. The crime scene could have used a few extras playing cops, as the only people who seem to be at...

A less than satisfying telling of the story of mass murderer Richard Speck
With a true crime story you would think the goal is to show what happened and to try and explain why it happened. The standard for such endeavors would be films like "In Cold Blood" and mini-series such as "Helter Skelter." There will be inevitable questions about how much you actually show and whether the explanations will prove at all satisfactory. "Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck" is about the murder of the eight student nurses in Chicago in 1966, which happens to be the first headline crime that I remember after the assassination of JFK. Way back then I was unaware of the story of Ed Gein or the way everything would seem to change after the Manson murders, and long before Michael Meyers) upped the ante in teh cinematic world of splatter flicks. After watching this...

In Search of a Golden Sky

GREAT MOVIES
This was an awesome movie. My daughter and niece watched it when it came out, over and over, then as years went by they wanted to see it again, we couldn't remember the name and we were searching all movies to try to find it, and thank goodness we did find it after probably 5 yrs of searching. It has been watched numerous times again. There is no swearing or bad scenes that kids shouldn't see, a nice family movie. I highly recommend it

A Good Old-Fashioned family movie(safe for kids to watch too!)
You just can't lose with this good old family flick. They don't make them like this no more(lil' mountain talk fer ya!)....and probably never will. The art of family movie making at its finest! Pick this one up for a flash back to the simpler times and they sure were even in good ole 1983.....so nice not to see one single cell phone.

In Search of a Golden Sky
This was a good movie. The only problem was that I had to turn the volume up considerably to be able to hear it.

Gun Camera

Four Stars
I own dozens of war and aviation related documentaries, many of which are boring and monotonous. This is not one of them.

"Gun Camera" is a very interesting compilation of actual gun camera footage from World War Two, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf Wars. Historians, analysts, and pilots provide commentary for the footage, which includes strafing trains and bombing ships in WW2, aerial dogfights in Korea, bombing jungles in Vietnam, and using smart bombs to take out strategic targets in Iraq.

My only complaints with the production are, 1) the repetitive aircraft information, which, although interesting, doesn't have a lot to do with the footage (many of the deleted scenes are more interesting), and, 2) the realism that is lost when sound effects (guns firing and explosions) are added to the normally silent footage, with no acknowledgment made.

Regardless of whether those two things bother you or not, I would recommend this DVD. It kept me entertained...

Interesting, some errors.
Overall I liked the DVD, the interview with the pilots who did the combat was good, lots of footage, and new information. However, they made errors in aircraft identification on several occasions. The directors identified large double engined aircraft that in reality were single engined fighters, etc. Seems a shame to go through all that trouble to make this and then cannot figure out the type and general dimensions of the targets. Is this from a lack of reading skills?

Aerial Gun Camera
...I work in the visual-effects industry, so I can claim this as business related reference material, but find it fascinating to watch none the less.

...We have all seen WWII Aerial footage of planes being shot down from the viewpoint of the attacking aircraft...( Pilot's-View! )...and this is exactly what this DVD contains. Whenever machine-guns were fired on aircraft, of both sides, a camera shot film to record the hits. This was used to verify pilot's claims of downed planes, but also for statistics and strategy, etc.

...Pilots comment on the footage as we see it, giving valuable insight into what is being seen as well as the intent of the pilots, so it is informative, historic, and frankly, a helluva lot of fun to watch!

Tutenstein, Vol. 1: The Beginning

Okay... So I'm a bit of an Egypt freak and was going into watching this with some positive bias, but...
I was still presently surprised to find this DVD watchable, and even enjoyable, as an adult. The show did incorporate actual elements of ancient Egyptian culture and history in a fairly accurate manner. So it was educational as well.

And my six year old son (also inclined to be an Egypt freak, due to his mother's teachings) has dubbed this "My Favorite Video Ever." Though, to be fair, he tends to be a bit fickle about these things.

Happy Granddaughter!
I bought this movie for my three year old granddaughter, Jaylynn, who was heart broken when Tutenstein was cancelled on t.v.. I gave it to her for Christmas and she was tickled pink!

Awesome DVD and in great condition
I got the used DVD since I couldn't afford to spend too much on it. As a child I was indeed heartbroken when Tutenstein was cancelled on T.V. I'm an Egypt freak as much as I am a king Tut freak :) It brought back so many memories as a child and the DVD was in great shape. I'm very glad i bought this product and hope to show it to my children one day
